On October 30, 2025, WRRC Director Sharon B. Megdal participated as a panelist at the Patagonia-Sonoita-Elgin Rural Groundwater Resilience Workshop, which was held in Patagonia, Arizona. The workshop was organized by Arizona State University’s Arizona Water Innovation Initiative, in partnership with the U of A’s Arizona Institute for Resilience and the Lincoln Institute’s Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy.
TREND Report Focuses on Water and Infrastructure
The November 2025 infrastructure issue of TREND Report focuses on water issues, with one section dedicated to “Water: Scarcity, Stability, Shaping Policy.” The report’s “Infrastructure Trends” issues typically cover topics of transportation, power/energy, recent airport development, residential infrastructure, and binational trade.

The October 7, 2025, Irrigation Leader “Arizona Edition” featured an interview with U of A Professor Greg Barron-Gafford, who also serves as the Associate Director of the School Garden Workshop and Director of Food, Energy, and Water Resilience Solutions for Biosphere 2.
November Filled with Water Events
While November generally brings cooler temperatures to Southern Arizona, U of A calendars have been heating up with events that highlight water. This month, the WRRC is hosting two Water Webinars, beginning with a 104(b) Grant Program student presentation on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 (co-sponsored by the U of A Indigenous Resilience Center).
