Honoring the Legacy of Andy Groseta, WRRC Collaborator and Friend

The WRRC was saddened to learn of the recent passing of Peter “Andy” Groseta, who served on the WRRC’s External Advisory Committee for many years, sharing his valuable perspective and advice. Groseta was a third-generation rancher in Verde Valley, Arizona, who left behind a rich legacy. He was a family man, an advocate for the agricultural sector, and a beloved friend and mentor to many people, with a passion for serving his community. Throughout his life, Groseta played many roles and received numerous awards for his work. He served as President of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, President of the Arizona Cattle Grower’s Association (ACGA), Chair of the Catholic Community Foundation, and Board Member of Mingus Union High School. He received the ACGA Cattleman of the Year Award, was inducted into the Arizona Farming & Ranching Hall of Fame, and held an Honorary Doctorate from the U of A. Reflecting on his contributions, WRRC Director Sharon B. Megdal commented, “The WRRC benefitted from Andy Groseta’s questions and suggestions, which revealed his strong commitment to advancing the University of Arizona agricultural and natural resources efforts. Like so many, we surely will miss Andy.” The WRRC would like to extend its condolences to the Groseta family, Andy’s friends, and colleagues.
