WRRC Seeks Graduate Research Assistant for Spring 2026
The Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) for the Spring 2026 semester to support our stakeholder outreach and engagement efforts and assist with research projects. The WRRC acts as a bridging organization between academia and water managers throughout the state, providing stakeholder outreach, facilitation, and research to support communities in their water management efforts. Under the direction of staff, the student will help with engagement, outreach, and research related to: 1) the WRRC 2026 Annual Conference (e.g., communications with Tribal Colleges and Community Colleges, overall community engagement, conference planning, etc.); 2) Arizona Water Factsheets (e.g., county factsheets, conservation factsheets); 3) gauging interest in new “Tribal water factsheets” (convening a stakeholder meeting); and 4) other WRRC programming as needed (e.g., webinars, Weekly Wave newsletter, Indigenous water dialogues, etc.). There will also be opportunities to assist with additional research projects.
1. Description of Specific Purpose and Duties of the Position:
Under guidance from WRRC personnel, the student will:
- Develop and implement communications to increase conference participation
- Develop and implement communications related to Arizona Water Factsheets
- Convene a meeting with stakeholders to gauge interest in new Tribal water factsheets
- Assist with WRRC programs, including webinars, Weekly Wave newsletter, and conference planning, as needed
- Assist with research, including conservation factsheets and/or Tribal water factsheets, as needed
- Work flexibly on multiple tasks as priorities change
2. Minimum Qualifications:
The position requires strong writing and communication skills, good time management skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. This is a 0.5 FTE GRA with a full tuition waiver and stipend. The candidate must be available to work 20 hours/week during the semester.
3. Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with water resources in Arizona
- Experience with community outreach and engagement
- Research experience
